Rain is expected in most of the regions, while mountain areas above 1,700 metres could see snow

Orange and yellow weather alerts for significant rainfall have been issued for much of Bulgaria. The most severe conditions are expected in eastern and southeastern Bulgaria, where second-level warnings — orange alerts — are in effect. Yellow alerts apply to areas in northern and central Bulgaria, as well as parts of southern Bulgaria. Most municipalities in southwestern Bulgaria remain outside the warning zones, according to the map published by the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH).

The orange alert covers municipalities in the districts of Varna, Dobrich, Shumen, Burgas, Sliven, Yambol, Haskovo and Kardzhali. Significant rainfall is expected in these areas, with locally heavy downpours.

Yellow alerts are in effect for municipalities in the districts of Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Pleven, Lovech, Gabrovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Razgrad, Targovishte, Silistra, Dobrich, Shumen, Sliven, Stara Zagora, Plovdiv, Pazardzhik, Smolyan, Kardzhali, Haskovo, Sofia City, Sofia Province, Pernik and Kyustendil.

Cloud cover will persist across the country overnight, with rain expected in most areas. The heaviest rainfall is forecast in central Bulgaria. Minimum temperatures will range from 7°C to 12°C, reaching around 9°C in Sofia.

The weather will remain predominantly cloudy and rainy. Rainfall is expected to intensify in places across central and eastern Bulgaria, with significant amounts locally. In southwestern areas, however, the rain will gradually ease and eventually stop.

Winds will blow from the north at moderate speeds, strengthening temporarily in the eastern half of the country. Daytime temperatures will remain largely unchanged, with highs of 10°C to 15°C and around 11°C in the capital.

Mountain areas will be cloudy, windy and rainy. Rain is expected at elevations below 1,700 metres, while snow is forecast above that level.

Significant rainfall is forecast in the Central Balkan Mountains, the Rhodope Mountains, Strandzha and Sakar. Temperatures will be around 6°C at an altitude of 1,200 metres and approximately 1°C at 2,000 metres.

Along the Black Sea coast, cloudy and rainy conditions will persist throughout the day. Significant rainfall is expected in some areas during the afternoon, accompanied by moderate to temporarily strong northerly winds.

Maximum temperatures along the Black Sea coast will range from 15°C to 17°C. Sea temperatures will remain relatively warm, at 20°C to 21°C, while wave heights will reach 2–3 on the Beaufort scale. Atmospheric pressure will continue to rise, reaching levels above the average for October.
