The Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs has launched an investigation on its own initiative following reports of men who attacked a hotel in Sofia. According to the police, Bulgarian and foreign media outlets are reporting that Italian citizens were staying at the hotel. An investigation into the incident has begun.

As of now, the Sofia Metropolitan Directorate of Internal Affairs has not received an official report of such a disorderly conduct incident. The Ministry of the Interior assures that all necessary steps have been taken to clarify the facts and circumstances, as well as to locate and identify all individuals involved in the incident.

A group of young neo-Nazis attempted to break into a hotel in Sofia on August 2, where Italian Jewish teenagers from Rome and Milan and their teachers were staying. All major Italian media outlets have reported on the incident, including the Italian news agency ANSA, the newspaper "Corriere della Sera", the news outlet “Sky TG24”, the financial publication “Sole 24 Ore”, the right-wing newspaper “Il Giornale,” the national broadcaster “RAI News”, the agency “La Presse” and others. They report that the young neo-Nazis gathered in front of the hotel entrance in Sofia and attempted to force their way into the building, after which they blocked access to it. According to the reports, even after the police intervened, the attackers returned and once again blocked the hotel’s entrance, an act described by the media as “a grave act of anti-Semitism in the heart of Europe.”
