The head of the Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox Diocese of the USA, Canada and Australia, Metropolitan Joseph, has been admitted to hospital following a road accident in New York, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
The Bulgarian Consulate General in New York is monitoring the clergyman's condition and remains in contact with the medical facility where he is being treated.
On Sunday, a representative of the consulate visited the Metropolitan. According to the medical team, he is conscious and responsive, in stable condition and out of danger, but remains under medical observation.
The Consulate General also said it is ready to provide assistance if needed.
