The new facility is located in the “Trakiya” industrial zone
Second Chinese auto parts manufacturing plant has opened near Plovdiv. The new facility is located in the “Trakiya” industrial zone and was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Rumen Radev.
Investment in the production facility has exceeded 32 million euro to date. The plant will manufacture aluminum components for the automotive industry, and is expected to create 100 jobs by the end of the year.
During the ceremony, Radev described the investment as a sign of foreign businesses’ growing confidence in Bulgaria and as an example of the shift in the country’s economic model. “Today’s high-tech enterprise, built in record time, shows that Chinese investments have a place in Bulgaria and can find a market for their products throughout Europe from here”, the PM said.
According to him, the opening of the plant is also a result of the deepening of relations between Sofia and Beijing following the signing in 2019 of the declaration on strategic partnership between Bulgaria and China.
Radev emphasized that the government’s goal is for the economy to gradually move away from a model based on consumption, redistribution, and cheap labor, and to shift toward investments and manufacturing with higher added value. During his visit to the “Trakiya” industrial zone, the prime minister will also launch the construction of a new plant for the production of saline solution and medical supplies. The investment in the project amounts to 7 million euros.
Later, Radev will also inspect the construction of a major road infrastructure project in the Plovdiv region.
