DARA Named Honorary Citizen of Sofia Following Eurovision 2026 Victory

Darina Yotova, known as DARA, has been named an “Honorary Citizen of Sofia” following her historic victory at Eurovision 2026. She was recognised for her contribution to Bulgarian music and for promoting the country on the international stage. The honour is the latest in a series of accolades for the singer, who is already an honorary citizen of Varna, the city where she was born.

“Sofia is a city of dreams. Thank you for taking care of this city, and I hope you will continue to do so, because culture needs you. My fellow artists and I need your support,” DARA told Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev and the Sofia Municipal Council after receiving the title at a ceremonial session marking Sofia Day.

The singer won the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna with her song “Bangaranga”, securing Bulgaria the right to host the music event in 2027. The show will take place in Burgas, with preparations for the major event already emerging as one of the country’s key cultural priorities.
