She will receive a nine-year term, which should start within three months

Diana Kovacheva was elected on Wednesday by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe as a Bulgarian judge at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), said the head of the plenary session.

Out of a total of 214 votes cast and 201 actual votes, Kovacheva won a majority with 115 votes ahead of her competitors Galya Valkova (73 votes) and Dragomir Yordanov (13 votes).

Kovacheva will receive a nine-year term, which should start within three months.
