Two passing cyclones are causing severe weather these days
The first week of November will begin with cloudy and rainy weather due to passing Mediterranean cyclones. On Monday, there will be brief, localized breaks in the clouds in southwestern Bulgaria, while rain will fall in the rest of the country.
Rainfall will be more intense and prolonged in northern and eastern Bulgaria. In the Northeast, conditions are in place for the heaviest rainfall over the next 24 hours. That region will also experience the strongest gusts of the northeasterly wind. There is a risk of river overflows, localized flooding, landslides, and disruptions to the road network.
Severe weather is on the way due to two passing cyclones. They will pose risks throughout the country, said NOVA meteorologist Nikolay Vasilkovski on NOVA NEWS’s “Your Day” program. Today, the heaviest rainfall will be in northern and eastern Bulgaria, with the most significant amounts falling in the northeast. Tomorrow, there will be heavy and prolonged rainfall throughout the country.
A red alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for the regions of Dobrich, Varna, Haskovo, Kardzhali, and Smolyan. In those areas, rainfall totals of 100–150 liters per square meter are possible.

These challenging conditions will continue through Wednesday, and starting Thursday, the weather will be a bit calmer, with fog and frost in some areas. The second half of November will be relatively warmer, and temperatures may reach around 20 degrees on some days, Vasilkovski added.
According to him, conditions are favorable for snowfall between November 10 and 13, but this forecast is subject to change.
