€50 Fuel Compensation for More Than 550,000 Bulgarians amid rising fuel prices

More than 550,000 people on low incomes will receive a one-off payment of €50 to help offset increased household consumption costs resulting from higher fuel prices. The measure is part of a new government support scheme for the most vulnerable people and families, the government press service announced.

The one-off compensation will be available to individuals and families with incomes below the poverty line who receive social assistance; children and young people up to the age of 21 without parental care who are leaving residential social services; people receiving heating assistance during the current winter season; and families raising children with permanent disabilities.

The compensation will be paid automatically by the Social Assistance Directorates across the country, using the same method by which recipients receive their other forms of social assistance, either into a bank account or by post.

Recipients will not be required to submit an application to receive the funds.
