The information was posted on Twitter by the US Mission to NATO on August 11
The US 101st Airborne Division will deploy nearly 2,400 soldiers to Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Slovakia, "to protect NATO's eastern flank, reassure our Allies, and deter our adversaries," the US Mission to NATO tweeted on August 11.
The tweet did not specify how the troops will be distributed among the four countries and what armament will be involved.
Nor is it clear whether the US troops will be part of a NATO multinational battlegroup that is being established in Bulgarian territory or will be a stand-alone element, Saturday's 24 Chasa writes.
A Stryker company provided by the US deployed at the Novo Selo Training Area near Sliven (Southeastern Bulgaria) in early March 2022.
Bulgaria would like to see the 1,000-strong battlegroup grow to a 5,000-strong multinational brigade, the newspaper said.
