The celebration of our national holiday is most emotional at the Shipka Monument

We celebrate 148 years of Free Bulgaria. On this date in 1878, the Treaty of San Stefano was signed, ending Ottoman rule over our lands and opening the first page in the history of the Third Bulgarian State.

At 12:00 o'clock a ceremonial changing of the guard took place in front of the presidential palace.

The festive evening in Sofia will end with a ceremonial fireworks at the National Assembly Square.
