The meeting is expected to address security risks in the Black Sea
President Iliyana Yotova is convening a meeting of the Consultative Council on National Security. It will take place on October 7 at 1:00 p.m. at the Presidential Office.
The topic of the meeting is “Current risks and threats to Bulgaria’s maritime security and critical infrastructure in the context of the war in Ukraine”. The meeting is expected to address security risks in the Black Sea and potential threats to the country’s critical infrastructure related to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
We remind you that drones attacked two merchant ships off the Bulgarian coast. The attack took place east of Cape St. Atanas and the town of Byala. A large-scale rescue operation is underway. One of the ships sank after sustaining serious structural damage. A fire broke out on board the second ship, and its 18-member crew was evacuated and rescued by a Bulgarian ferry.
The relevant agencies held an emergency meeting with the prime minister. Meanwhile, the opposition in parliament is insisting that the president convene the National Security and Defense Council.
