Interviewed on NOVA Syria's Charge d'affaires in Sofia Oras Mahmoud said that relief supplies are being collected at the Syrian Embassy and in several Bulgarian cities

Syria's Charge d'affaires in Sofia Oras Mahmoud called on Bulgaria to provide aid to her country to manage the effects of the devastating earthquake.

Interviewed on NOVA Sunday morning, the diplomat said that relief supplies are being collected at the Syrian Embassy and in several Bulgarian cities.

Mahmoud specified that only seaborne or airborne aid can reach Syria and that the country needs rescuers and medicines.

The charge d'affaires added that her country has sustained substantial losses in recent years and needs help.

In her words, the earthquake has so far injured over 2,400 people in Syria and has killed more than 1,400. The diplomat assured her interviewer that rescue teams are safe in Syria despite the ongoing hostilities there.
