34 people are still being treated in hospitals in Sofia

Seven people have been arrested after a truck with 18 dead migrants from Afghanistan was found near Sofia on Friday. The victims, including one child, died of suffocation in the vehicle, near the village of Lokorsko.

A total of 34 migrants injured in the abandoned vehicle are still being treated in hospitals in Bulgaria’s capital.

Four of the detained people were found in Burgas and the other three - in Sofia and the Sofia region.

The truck had one owner according to its documents and another de facto owner but their involvement in human trafficking is being clarified by police.
