President Yotova in New York: Europe and the EU take a back seat in discussions on Ukraine and the Middle East

The European Union must play more significant role in resolving the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. President Iliyana Yotova expressed this view to Bulgarian journalists in New York.

The Bulgarian head of state is in the United States to participate in the 81st session of the UN General Debate. The delegation led by the head of state includes Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova, Health Minister Katya Ivkova, Minister of Labor and Social Policy Natalia Efremova and Petar Vitanov, Chair of the Foreign Policy Committee in the National Assembly.

Yotova is expected to deliver a speech this evening. The speech will focus on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, peace in Ukraine and the Middle East, and the need to return to the negotiating table. Our head of state believes that Europe needs a unified position and a proposal to address these pressing geopolitical issues.

“From here on out, beyond mere observations, dialogue, and discussions, it is time for concrete decisions - politics and diplomacy combined. Let’s sit down at the negotiating table and seek solutions”, said Yotova.
