Tagarev and Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov gave a news briefing at Sofia Airport

"Our policy is to continuously analyze the requests coming from Ukraine so as to what we can do to help, and we keep working on it. When we have a decision, we'll go public," Bulgarian Defence Minister Todor Tagarev told the media here on Sunday.

Tagarev and Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov gave a news briefing at Sofia Airport, back home from attending the Munich Security Conference.

"The first resolution on providing aid to Ukraine was taken last summer, but the final resolution that actually endorsed the provision of this aid was adopted on December 8," the Defence Minister recalled. "After December 8, we started work on this operation, and it is now in progress. We will inform you when it is completed," Tagarev said.

He was apparently referring to a National Assembly resolution approved the provision to Ukraine of some 100 armoured personnel carriers that are no longer needed by the Bulgarian Interior Ministry with the corresponding armament and spare parts. On December 8, 2023 the National Assembly overrode a presidential veto on the resolution which thus entered into effect.
