He has been given one week to present a list of ministers as President Iotova signals an April 19 election date

Bulgaria's President Iliana Iotova has handed a mandate to form a caretaker government to Bulgarian National Bank Deputy Governor Andrey Gyurov. The head of state gave him a one-week deadline to fulfill the task. He is expected to present a list of ministers to be appointed so that the caretaker government can begin its work.

If a cabinet is presented to me within the required timeframe, the three decrees will be issued on February 19, so that elections can be held on April 19,” Iotova said.

Andrey Gyurov accepted the mandate folder, expressing readiness to complete the task on time.

The situation is not normal, but you are placing your trust in me, and I accept it. I will approach this with responsibility. My task is to ensure fair elections and to help people see a reason to vote, as well as to work without creating hysteria. In the coming days, I will assemble a team in which everyone will find their reflection. These will be people with expertise, integrity and experience. They will not present themselves through their political positions. We expect the opportunity to prove ourselves through our work,” Gyurov said.
