The Constitutional Court accepted Rumen Radev's resignation
The Constitutional Court accepted the resignation of President Rumen Radev. Now Bulgaria has a new president - Iliyana Yotova. The previously Vice President will not have to take the oath of office again before the National Assembly, as she did so in 2021.
Rumen Radev addressed the Bulgarian people on January 19, announcing his resignation, which was submitted to the Constitutional Court the following day, setting a precedent in Bulgarian history. After nine years Radev left the presidency and Iliyana Yotova officially became Bulgaria's first female head of state.
