Traffic will be suspended on the section between Knyaz Alexander I Street and Vasil Levski Boulevard

The capital’s “Tsar Osvoboditel” Boulevard is becoming a pedestrian zone starting today, as part of the “Summer on the Cobblestones” initiative. This was announced by the Sofia Municipality. The pedestrian zone will be in effect every weekend in August - from 6:00 a.m. on Saturday to 10:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The choice of this time frame is not a coincidence - August is traditionally the month with the lightest traffic in Sofia, which allows traffic management to be adjusted with minimal impact on the city’s daily rhythm, the municipality explained.

During the event, traffic on Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd. will be suspended on the section between Knyaz Alexander I St. and Vasil Levski Blvd. Traffic will continue to flow at National Assembly Square and along G. S. Rakovski Street. Detour routes have been set up for cars, and public transportation will continue to serve the area, with night bus routes running along Knyaz Alexander Dondukov Boulevard.
