The caretaker PM assured that every report of an election violation is being carefully investigated
When we talk about elections in Bulgaria, everyone imagines notebooks full of names, wads of cash, and people voting in formation. For years the country turned a blind eye and pretended to be powerless.
Those days are over. Today the government is taking action; the Ministry of the Interior is not a bystander but is on the front lines. This was stated by caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov in a video address on his official Facebook profile.
"Social services are not a mailbox for campaign promises. Food and firewood are not bargaining chips", Gyurov emphasized. "I have ordered that every report be carefully investigated, every violation be prosecuted, and the results are indisputable", he added.
The acting prime minister also said that, as of now, over half a million euro have been seized, the number of reports filed is seven times higher, and the number of cases opened and individuals detained is four times higher than in the previous elections. "This isn’t just a statistic. It’s a clear sign that the citizens and the government are on the same side", Gyurov ended.
