"We will meet in court with those who have tarnished my name", Tsitselkov said
I will submit my resignation to the prime minister and the president. This was announced by the acting deputy prime minister for fair elections Stoil Tsitselkov at a briefing on Friday morning. Minutes later it became clear that the prime minister had accepted it.
"For two days, there has been a massive attack against me. It is not personal. I am just a convenient target. This attack is against the Gyurov cabinet and its main mission—to stabilize the situation in the country and ensure fair elections", Tsitselkov said.
"This is an attack by circles who know that the elections will be held according to the rules. For them, this does not matter. This is a last-ditch attempt to preserve the influence of people who will most likely not enter the next parliament", he added.
He denied that there were any charges, convictions or restrictions against him at that time. Tsitselkov stressed that he would seek legal redress for the unlawful disclosure of personal data and abuse of power. "We will meet in court with those who have tarnished my name. My criminal record is clean, as is my conscience", said the deputy prime minister. He added that fair elections were important to him.
