Sofia marked the 147th anniversary of its designation as the capital of Bulgaria with a variety of cultural events. This year’s program included exhibitions, concerts, creative initiatives, and themed walking tours tracing the city’s development from the Liberation to the present day.
As part of the celebration, residents and visitors to the capital had the opportunity to visit documentary exhibitions and participate in specially designed routes highlighting key moments in the city’s history. Some of the initiatives were aimed at promoting the cultural heritage and architectural landmarks in the city center.
The Sofia City Art Gallery and the Regional History Museum – Sofia were open to the public free of charge, and a special tour was organized for visitors through the central buildings of the Sofia Municipality.
The festive program also included outdoor musical events. Starting at 12:00 p.m. in the Crystal Garden, the Sofia Brass Band performed a concert. Starting at 1:00 p.m. in the square in front of the Ivan Vazov National Theater, the Representative Brass Band of the National Guard greeted the residents of Sofia and visitors to the city with a special festive program.
